Base Operating Support Services for Naval
Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga.
VT Group performs a full range of base operating support
services at the east coast homeport for the U.S. Navy's Ohio Class
ballistic missile submarine fleet at Naval Submarine Base Kings
Bay, Ga. We manage a staff of 340 employees and 220
subcontractors, providing facility operations and maintenance
services for more than 46,000 pieces of equipment. Our
mission support for the Navy customer includes:

Support.
We provide numerous key pier-side services required by
submarines, including maintenance and repair for: shore power, CHT
connections, potable water, high and low pressure air, refuse
collection and crane maintenance. We also maintain and repair
the piers, capstans, pier-side dolly systems, specialized
constant-tensioning mooring devices, fenders, shore power booms and
cranes and dedicated crane tracks.
Our staff plays an integral role on Kings Bay, providing:

Vehicle Maintenance:More than 900 vehicles at Kings Bay are
maintained and repaired by VT Group, including specially-engineered
and weight and material handling equipment maintenance.

Janitorial Services:We provide janitorial services for 4.4
million square feet in 705 buildings, grounds maintenance on 1,500
acres and road maintenance on 140 miles of roadway, 13 miles of
railroad tracking, 217 miles of bike path and 9 miles of
coastline.

Base Security:Our 150 security service personnel staff pass and
identification offices and provide visitor control, escort and
physical security.
Our Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) support
services ensure that Kings Bay is compliant with all federal and
military regulations, managing:

Hazardous Waste;

Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
Compliance;

Part B Storage Facility Operation;
-
Oil Collection and Disposal;
-
Spill Prevention, Control, and
Countermeasures (SPCC);

Sampling and Analysis;

Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)
Administration.
VT Group also supports Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEEDS) projects, namely energy savings and energy usage,
and energy reduction projects on base. Projects include
installation of compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, installing
sensing circuits to automatically control lighting in
minimally-occupied buildings and replacing older appliances with
ENERGY STAR-compliant appliances.
